THE KAZAN

Once the heart of the Ottoman Empire, Istanbul is a crossroad of civilizations and cultures where Europe, Asia and the Middle East met and traded.

The Ottomans delighted in discovering the culinary delights of the different countries that fell under their rule.  Hungry for knowledge and open to adopting new techniques and using new and unfamiliar ingredients the Ottomans always carried their Kazan, a large cooking pot in which all the ingredients they collected were cooked over an open fire.

At Kazan we use only the finest ingredients to create dishes which we believe faithfully represent the best of Ottoman cuisine.  (We import the rare herbs and aromatic spices direct from the Anatolian region of Turkey).  Our menu is a rich tapestry of the tastes and pleasures originating from the Ottoman era, many of the recipes used were invented and perfected in the Sultan’s kitchen at the Topkapi Palace many centuries ago.

This infusion of history and taste is brought to life for you by our team of Turkish chefs, who have learnt their skills in some of Istanbul’s finest restaurants, ensuring Kazan offers authentic Ottoman cuisine that is as healthy as it is delicious.
